Options in PeopleXD

It is important that what is returned in this field is up to date, to reflect any qualification changes while an employee is in their current post.

There is no implied hierarchy in the valid entries, neither is there any implied equivalence.

Only qualifications for teaching in higher education should be returned, other qualifications are not considered to be a teaching qualification.

Only one of the codes applicable to Advance HE Fellowships (11, 12, 13 or 14) can apply at a given point in time. Ensure the latest one is selected and remove older ones.

UKPSF – United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework. This framework was introduced in 2006.

Coding guide:

The Higher Education Academy (HEA) has been renamed ‘Advance HE’, and so qualifications recorded by new recruits under the banner of the HEA should be recorded using codes 11 to 14 as appropriate.

UK Professional Standards Framework

Add code 11 where an employee has an Associate Fellowship from Advance HE, awarded during or after 2006

Add code 12 where an employee has a Fellowship from Advance HE, awarded during or after 2006

Add code 13 where an employee has a Senior Fellowship from Advance HE, awarded during or after 2006

Add code 14 where an employee has a Principal Fellowship from Advance HE, awarded during or after 2006

Add code 15 where, for example an employee has SEDA award ‘Supporting Learning’, awarded during or after 2006

Add code 16 where, for example an employee has SEDA award ‘Learning, teaching and assessing’, awarded during or after 2006

Add code 01 where an employee has achieved 1 or more of the Advance HE or SEDA qualifications listed above, but that qualification was obtained before 2006

Add code 06 for staff who have at any time held this award. A full list of National Teaching Fellows is available. While the NTFS Individual Award is temporary, continue to return code 06 for employees who have at any time held this award.

Add code 07 where any of the following are held:

Use code 09 where no other codes in the list apply. 09 should also be used where a staff member attends an accredited course that leads to an award, but has not gone forward for the accreditation, these individuals should be treated as having successfully completed the course and coded as 09.

  • Diploma (e.g. DELTA), Masters (e.g. MA in ELT), or Doctorate in teaching in higher education
  • City & Guilds teaching qualifications in HE NOT leading to Qualified Teacher Status
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGDipLATHE)
